χειμωνας , καταρρακτη & your foot

(Winter, Waterfalls, & your foot)

An installation in 2 parts. Acetate, invisible thread, dried glue. Each flag 1.8” x 1.25'“. 2013

The title is a reference to Heraclitus— “They do not step into the same rivers. It is other and still other waters that are flowing.”

In two parts, this piece points out the event/echo gap on multiple levels since the object itself almost disappears and we are left trying to gather information and understanding from the refractions and shadows apparent. "Katarakts" invokes Tibetan prayer flags, cast aside scraps, biological slides, epistemology, and questions the fine lines between the visible/invisible, and the viewers' relationship to the work.
